I have found a website that offers examples of lesson plans designed for elementary school children. There are tons of animal science topics to choose from. Some topics even have interactive games and activities related to the subject matter. This could be a good starting place for anyone doing a lesson plan. The site is www.proteacher.org

Then I also found a website that gives different information on animals depending on the topic of choice. http://www.internet4classrooms.com/science_elem_animals.htm
There are several different websites out there that have good ideas for lesson plans on animals. This website is for younger children but I found it interesting because it taught about winter animals (http://teacher.scholastic.com/lessonrepro/lessonplans/winter/animals.htm). Alos National Geographic for kids has good information and videos you can show as well.
