The pros to Wal-mart are the low prices for its consumer. Wal-mart will match any prices in their area so the customer can always be sure they are getting the best prices. The cons of Wal-mart is running small businesses into the ground because they can not keep up with a corporation as large as Wal-mart.

Wal-Mart is good for convenience and price, but in the long run, if they become a monopoly, they will control all prices.

Wal-Mart is shutting down many small businesses that have been around for years. They are monopolizing the retail industry. And, they do not offer the specialized customer service of smaller shops.

Since Walmart buys in bulk to provide lower prices, there is less transportation needed for their items.

  3. Pros: it is cheaper, convenient, everything in one store, provide jobs

Cons: monopoly, runs off other companies, everything is imported, huge carbon footprint, jobs are low paying, eliminates competition

Environmental impact: huge carbon footprint, parking lots are impervious, use a lot of electricity, don't buy local products,

    1. Wal-Mart creates jobs and lower prices for many towns, with everything in one quick stop. Some cons that Wal-mart have include poor customer service, run small businesses out of business, and have poor sustainability with cheap products that many people don't mind to just throw away.

    2. Many of products in wal-mart are cheaper than most of the competition which creates a wasteful attitude deciding rather than live with what they have they can just buy a new one on the basis of low price.

Pros: Wal-Mart has cheap and reasonable prices and it is very convenient. It is one-stop shopping for groceries, tools, cosmetics, automotive needs, etc. It is also open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Cons: It is always crowded and it has a monopoly on the markets, which prevents local, small-town businesses from growing. Local economies are hurt by Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart probably has a large carbon footprint because they are always open and their lights are never off and the electricity is always running. They also do not use existing structures for new Wal-Marts, which is not very good for the environment.

  6. Pros:
    1. Convenient (grocery,dept. store, household all-in-one)
    2. Saves people money
    3. Carbon footprint is reduced because you can do all your shopping in one place.

    Cons:
    1. Destroys home-town businesses
    2. Do not offer all services that businesses in the area do; Wal-Mart puts those businesses out of business so people can no longer get the prodcuts they need, such as arts and crafts.
    3. False advertising-do not always have lowest prices.
    4. Inconvenience of finding a parking spot and then waiting in line for long periods of time becuase there are hardly any registers open (if they are making 40 million dollars an hour every day, why can they not hire more people?).
    5. You often end up spending more money and buying more products because of promotional items.

Walmart is good for the majority of the population as an economical stand point but is bad in that aspect for local business. They usually put a strain on the little man and force many of them out of business. They have demonstrated equal opportunity employment.

The average American is attracted by the prospect of saving money even when in reality they may not be getting the best price.

Walmart has recently tried to portray an environmentally friendly image by promoting green products. The amount of land it takes to build just one walmart is a vast amount of destroyed habitats. Imagine the surprise of underground hibernating insects or animals that try to make their appearance but find they cannot because there is a parking lot where a field used to be.
